This past weekend I had the AWESOME opportunity to photograph over 70 families throughout the course of the day on May 10, 2014 at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. The museum contacted me about offering Mother’s Day portrait special for the guests of the museum. I loved the idea, and said yes. It was an interesting day with some families up to 6 or 7, newborns, sleepy eyes, and some kids with a BILLION joules of energy. Apart from Mother’s Day, some people were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries (one couple was celebrating their 32nd, 3rd, and 5th wedding anniversaries), mother with newborns celebrating their first Mother’s Day, and there were some families who had never had a photograph taken together. It was truly an honor!!!
I’m not going to make it all mushy here, but I’ll simply say that Mother’s make the world go ROUND! Here’s a current video campaign that’s making the social media rounds, and I think they do a poignant job of detailing what it means to be a mother.
TECH TALK/the setup – two profoto d1’s using air remote, one modifier of white beauty dish (note the distinct light pattern on the ground and ceiling), background d1 modified with 7-inch reflector with 20 degree grid from alien bees, and of course the 6 foot while bounce providing fill until I add a third light to my profoto kit.
