CC Go SEE – April 10, 2013 – Go Pro HD Hero 3 Black Edition Video Recap

CC GO SEE is a locally based group here in Corpus Christi, Texas consisting of photographers, models, make-up artists and the likes. They get together once every two months. I take these meetings as a time to challenge myself and push limits.  In this case I attempted to put together an animated video using Go Pro HD Hero 3 Black edition using only the following frames per second 30/1 second, 30/3 seconds.  This challenge brought on 2550 photographs, edited entirely in groups of 30 in Lightroom 4, save a few sequences with vignettes, which were individually edited.  Then the photos were grouped into ~ 78 separate sequences, placed on video timeline in Premiere CS6, and then after some minor video editing you get the video below.  Some notes of interest: i love the  sequence with the lady in the wide brim hat against the wall!  Likewise I’m equally fascinated by the white moving vignette in the same scenario.  I dig dig dig the horses, which is why I chose the song “Animal” by Miike Snow.  I still intend to do something more “consistent” with this song and animal heads… so stay tuned.   Kim went crazy (black bubble vignette) – more so than the horse.

NOTE: THIS IS A FAN VIDEO and NOT intended for resale or COMMERCIAL PURPOSES! I just REALLY REALLY LIKE MIIKE SNOW!

Hurricane Irene Short Film – Puerto Rico – August 2011

The last hurricane to hit NYC was Hurricane IRENE.  Before it swung up the east coast and thankfully not leave a trail of damage and destruction in it’s wake, it decided to visit Puerto Rico in its infancy, rather as a Tropical Storm.  And not that this had any general affect on the weather since it rained for an astonishing 7/10 days I was there OUTSIDE of it’s brief visit.  Anyways before it’s arrival I braved getting into the water at Loquillo Beach and then decided to put together a short film of footage. It compares before, during, and after …. all shot with Go Pro HD (1).  The video was made for fun and documentary purpose.

Ironically at the time I was visiting my sister in Puerto Rico, who’s now currently living for a brief time in New York City… which is where Hurricane Sandy is lingering. So no matter which island my sister is on… she can’t seem to escape Mother Nature. She also stars in the video.

Jesus and Naty Behind the Scenes Living Pictures Video – Corpus Christi, Texas – Water Gardens – June 30, 2012

I present to you my Living Pictures installment of the short time I had with Jesus and Naty during their wedding day on June 30, 2012.  It’s a combination of video footage interspersed with my lovely images from that special day.  I love it because it’s a fun way to document my method of work in a unique way.

Thanks to my God son Chris for helping carry around Go PRO, assisting with off camera strobes, and braving the hot South Texas summer heat.

FROM PREVIOUS POST:

I  just ordered Jesus and Naty’s Custom DVD and Photo Cover, and I had to share because I REALLY REALLY LIKE it!

Ps

It reads backwards from right to left, right being the front and left being the back cover.

FROM AN EARLIER RELATED POST:

On the last day of June 2012, Jesus and Naty celebrated their wedding at the Omni Bayfront Corpus Christi Tower located at 900 N. Shoreline Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas.  Their Ceremony was at Nuestra Senora de San Juan de Los Lagos (361)852-0249, 1755 Frio Street, Corpus Christi, Texas.  In between we visited the wonderful Corpus Christi Water Gardens for some portraits.  Live entertainment was provided by Chicago Live Band. Visit them on Facebook or visit their website at www.chicago-liveband.com.  We also shot the wedding video as well… stay tuned for that preview… Enjoy!

Here are some individual moments that I’d like to share.

Bridal and Engagement Shoot – Behind the Scenes – Corpus Christi, Texas

I’m becoming more interested in documenting how I work, both for posterity’s sake and for my own.  So here’s a Behind the Scenes Video from my perspective of an engagement and bridal session I had this past weekend with Santiago and Guadalupe of Del Rio, Texas. It took place at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, and was filmed with a Go Pro HD Hero 2 with a chest mount.

BP MS 150 Shaved Head Fundraising Promise Pictures – April 19, 2012

My Shaved head after meeting my goal of $400 for the MS-150 ride from Houston to Austin, Tx on April 21 and 22nd.

My Shaved head after meeting my goal of $400 for the MS-150 ride from Houston to Austin, Tx on April 21 and 22nd.

I made a deal that if I met my minimum goal of $400 I would shave my head.  Here is me following through. I also made the promise that I’d go so far as with a razor… however I couldn’t convince any of my family members to take on that task, so this is as close as it gets.  I’m holding the Go Pro that I used to make a time lapse video. I’ll be posting that video along with the ride video sometime next week.

On the Road – 365 Photo Project – Corpus Christi, Tx to San Marcos, Texas via Agua Dulce, Texas – April 10, 2012

Here’s a fun entry for my 365 Project for 2012/2013.  I mounted a Go Pro inside my car, and this is what it saw.  I think it recorded an image every 15 seconds, and I played it back at a continuous frame rate of five frames per second.  That wonderful lady who shares the journey with me is my grandmother Flores from my mother’s side of the family.

I find the video hypnotic for several reasons:

  1. Obviously for the movements
  2. Watching shadows
  3. Background scenery
  4. Cars
  5. The song
The song is by Florence and the Machines “you’ve got the love” (the XX remix). You can click here to listen to it on youtuberepeat, which is a habit of mine while photo editing.
PS
I don’t condone driving and talking, taking pictures of sunsets, or acting like you’re asleep at the wheel.

Nick Drake, John Lennon, and a short film named “Lucky.”

Nick Drake is today’s (January 19, 2012) featured article on Wikipedia. One interesting fact is that neither Bryter Layter and Pink Moon sold more than 5,000 copies on initial release. “In 2000,Volkswagen featured the title track from Pink Moon in a television advertisement, and within a month Drake had sold more records than he had in the previous 30 years.” He was 26 when he died from an overdose. Read more here. Listen to Pink Moon here.

On December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City. Coincidentally, I visited New York on the 30th anniversary of that sad day and visited Strawberry Fields and the exterior of the Dakota. As part of the South Texas Underground Film (STUF) Winter Film Challenge: a tribute to Sergei Eisenstein I made a short, experimental documentary film – otherwise known as a “shexdoc” – just kidding. In addition to this untitled film I screened two others which are explained further below.

“The Delivery”

a film made with an iphone 4 and go pro in 24 hours as part of STUF – 24CC.

“Lucky”

This is a short film which participated in being made within 7 days for the Corpus Christi 7 Day Film Challenge and contained three elements: Sam – a man who finds something, a line of dialogue, ” the problem with BLANK is that he/she thinks too much,” and a prop of black ribbon.

And this baffles me, but I didn’t include one of my favorite films made it New Orleans. I  should have also shown “Ten Commandments” which features local New Orleans musicians and the poem with same name as film read by author and AMAZING poet Jericho Brown.

An Explosion of Premieres!!!!

Some big dates to mark in your calendars:

Tomorrow Wednesday, August 10, 2011 @Revolution (Click the link for info), I’ll be unveiling my first 24 hour film challenge. It was filmed on Iphone 4 and GoPro HD Helmet Hero.  1 word #it’sgood.
