Texas Women’s Shelter of South Texas Great Expectation’s Speaker Series featuring Nia Vardalos – May 8, 2013 – Corpus Christi, Texas #instantmom

Nia Vardalos spoke today, May 8, 2013 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas as part of the Women’s Shelter of South Texas  Great Expectation’s Speaker Series.  Nia is a genuine person who shared stories about her start in “the business” at Second City, her experience kissing John Corbett during filming My Big Fat Greek Wedding, to her heartwarming 8 year journey of becoming an adopted mother.

After she answered any and all questions from the audience, she autographed, took photographs with, and visited with guests who purchased her book “Instant Mom.”  Afterwards she allowed me the opportunity to photograph her… for which I am forever grateful… then she continued to autograph the remaining copies.  Click for a larger image.  Head on over to Corpus Christi’s Half Price Books to purchase a signed copy of her harrowing and heart-warming story of becoming a mother in “Instant Mom.”

Zombie Bowling League Week 2: When Zombies ATTACK!

Here’s a video recap. Quick note: This adorable little lady from week 1, who was so terrified to have her picture taken, came up to me and shared that she loved her picture!  That was an awesome compliment I had never received from a young one before.  She came back in week 2 all “Zombied OUT” – even attacked her mom!

Zombie Bowling League Week 1 BLOG 040713 -www.mymdphotography.com-19

NOTE: This video may or may not cause seizures. It has a lot of blinking strobe lights, and has quick edits. Also, THIS IS A FAN VIDEO and NOT intended for resale or COMMERCIAL PURPOSES!

The ladies in the grandma outfits wanted to have the song “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in there because they just purchased their outfits from thrift shop, and the Harlem Shakes song was included because of the spiderman’s request.

Other than that… the little zombie in white did an amazing job – “freaking out” as a zombie.

From Week ONE POST:

Here are some of my favorites from yesterday. I LOVE the one with mother and child!  The little one didn’t want to take a pic, and for some reason the mother turned around dipped the child towards camera and acted like she was going to bite her… and the angst in the daughters face while staring right at the camera is PRICELESS to me.  On the same note the portrait with the mother by herself ROCKS too! Also I dig the four ladies with the rockabilly look (blue jeans), the one where the lady has her glasses halfway down her face.  The ONE with the young child jumping on his father’s back is PERFECTly ZOMBIEFIED!  NOTE: the two with the make-up all over their bodies won the costume competition. (of course I like all of the others just as equally much!)

Van and Dung Wedding | Happy 1 Year Anniversary Wishes | Wedding Highlight Video | January 15, 2012 | Corpus Christi, Texas

This day one year ago… Van and Dung Nguyen celebrated a traditional Vietnamese Wedding at a private residence, a truly unique experience.  I’m proud to share the Wedding Highlight Video of their day, back on January 15, 2012.  Afterwards, the celebration continued at the Vietnamese Restaurant, both located in Corpus Christi, Texas, which strangely was the first Vietnamese wedding celebration held at the beautiful restaurant. Again, I wish them both great happiness throughout their lives together!

Del Mar College – Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (Revised) – December 2012 – Corpus Christi, Texas

I was commissioned to take the photographs for the upcoming show to be used for its corresponding artwork/advertisements of The Compleat Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (Revised) production led by Professor of Drama Kim Frederick.  Some backstory: what a journey this past decade has been… the last time I saw this production was 10 years ago while a student at Del Mar College which was also coincided with the last year these three (Kim, Carl Yowell, and Lavert Rodgers) performed this whirlwind production, and trust me I’ve been a fan EVER SINCE THEN.  Now 7 years removed from my completion of an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from University of Texas at Austin, I’ve returned to my hometown as a professional photographer/videographer and, ultimately, storyteller.  Now charged with capturing their likeness for their advertisement, I took it upon myself to create a short promotional video.  I couldn’t be happier with the groups participation and how much I can’t help but crack up every time I watch it.  Shot out to Carl for suggesting that we go with a slower tempo of speech as opposed to my original vision of a rapid paced tempo… as you’ll see in the show.  I suggest you watch it multiple times to catch what each person says… and as always ENJOY and thanks for stopping by.

ps Inspiration of video is from a famous Beatles album cover “with the beatles”….
