From an earlier post ….

I shared an early Sunday morning recently with these two fine people where Demetrio first played “dentist,” and then Vanessa took her turn playing “doctor.” Although both of these wonderful individual’s wear those respective hats as day jobs, they wanted to play with this theme for the first of our engagement sessions.

Lopez Family Portraits – Corpus Christi, Texas – April 1, 2012

Yesterday I spent April Fools Day with one of my “life” clients – I’ve been with them from their wedding date, Elyana’s first pictures, along with their first family portrait, Elyana’s first Easter pics, and now this session.  It’s been an honor to see their family grow, and I’m thankful to be part of it, to document it, and to grow with them.

Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zeros and Mumford & Sons at Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas – World Premiere SXSW on March 17, 2012

3 Bands, 6 cities, 1 train, and thousands of miles of track … all culminated in Austin, Texas for the World Premiere… here’s what I saw, including the magnetic Jade Castrinos!!!!

SXSW – Austin, Texas – March 12, 2012 – Al Gore, Sean Parker, and World Premiere of 21 Jump Street (2012) starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Dave Franco at Paramount Theater

Former Vice-President and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Al Gore had a sit down with tech innovator Sean Parker of Napster and Facebook fame among other tech/online ventures. Al Gore believes that “Democracy has been hacked,” and he also called for an “Occupy Democracy” movement.  You can read more about it here at an article from the Washington Post.   Then I attended the World Premiere of 21 Jump Street.  IT WAS AMAZING!  There is a huge twist that yo’re going to love. It was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with screenplay by Michael Bacall.  I’m not going to go into a review here other than say that it was entertaining from top to bottom and had really great rhythm throughout the entire film.  The entire cast had memorable lines and impeccable delivery including Rob Riggle, Ice Cube, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Dave Franco.  I will say that I’ve a newfound respect for Jonah Hill, who during the Q&A was extremely witty and funny.  It is a MUST SEE FILM! Oh and on a random note, last night I watched the film “Iron Sky,” and in the seat next to me was Doug Benson… check out his IMDB here.

SXSW – Austin, Texas coverage – March 10, 2012 – Killer Joe and Rainn Wilson of The Office, and more…

I’m covering B-roll for SXSW 2012 – it’s my second year in a row, and I’m thankful to be asked back this go round. Yesterday was my first day out and I covered everything from interactive panels to the red carpet.  I had the opportunity to see the US Premiere of “Killer Joe,” which I think is going to be a very polarizing film – much like “Lolita” was considered a graphic novel.  Present at the premiere was Emile Hirsch, Gina Gershon, Matthew McConaughey, DP Caleb Deschanel, writer Tracy Letts, and through pre-recorded message William Friedlink – director of “The Exorcist,” although currently in Vienna, Austria he joined the Q&A by telephone.  Richard Linklater was also in attendance at the US premiere at the Paramount in Austin, Tx.

Earlier in the day, Rainn Wilson promoted his book, “SoulPancake.” Afterwards he did a book signing.  I had the opportunity to learn from a first hand source of the daughter of the late and great George Carlin, Kelly Carlin. She shared her personal life’s stories mixing wonderful and personal anecdotes with clips illustrating George Carlin’s illustrious career.  NOTE: In my honest opinion, George Carlin is the greatest comedian of all time, and she’s no slouch either.  Onto another funny man, Greg Proop from the television show “Whose Line is it Anyways.”  This man is as colorful and off the wall as they come. During the Q&A session, one man introduced himself as Jesse, to which Greg responded without missing a beat, “I”m sorry about your girl…” and then continued to sing the opening lines from the famous song “Jesse’s Girl.” The remaining photos are random, self explanatory pics, all but one the man with a “funny” face is advertising for a film being shown at SX called “Beauty is Embarrassing.”  I’ve added that to the long list of to-dos…

Vanessa and Demetrio – Corpus Christi, Texas – Engagement Photo Session #1

I shared an early Sunday morning recently with these two fine people where Demetrio first played “dentist,” and then Vanessa took her turn playing “doctor.” Although both of these wonderful individual’s wear those respective hats as day jobs, they wanted to play with this theme for the first of our engagement sessions.  Now if anyone is looking for a good dentist…. just don’t judge him for wanting to use the shape of the six (and it’s subsequent upside down heart) for a nine in the June 9, 2012 “save the date.”
